With the wide array of attractions, from the rare breeds tent and countryside area to the fun fair and main arena attractions, as well as agricultural show classes the Royal Cornwall Show is a fabulous day out, a chance to spend quality family time or socialise with friends. As well as the fun attractions there are 1,000 tradestands meaning farmers can speak to all their key suppliers and find out the latest on everything from farm machinery to animal feed. Events like this help to combat loneliness and rural isolation by giving farmers opportunities to spend a day away from the farm enjoying the company of friends and family. Loneliness and rural isolation are some of the issues being highlighted by this year’s Mind Your Head campaign by Yellow Wellies, highlighting the mental health issues in the agricultural community.
BBC Radio Cornwall are hosting a virtual Royal Cornwall Show to capture the sounds, spirit and soul of the Show over the next three days so even with the Covid-19 lockdown we can still enjoy a taste of the show.
We look forward to being able to see everyone at the Royal Cornwall Show next year but, in the meantime, we hope you are all keeping safe as we enjoy the beautiful Cornish sunshine.
We will be posting again tomorrow with details on what we did last year and then on Saturday we will be sharing our plans for 2021.
